Élixir Maison is an independent site about DIY e-liquid, written in English for readers in the United Kingdom. Our line fits in a few words, DIY without guesswork. Every guide sets out a method you can repeat, from choosing a base to measuring the nicotine shot and the concentrate, right through to labelling and storing the bottle.
What we publish
Practical guides in four sections. Method covers the steps of mixing and working out ratios. Bases deals with choosing and measuring the base. Nicotine Shots covers nicotine in its own bottle and how to handle it. Concentrates looks at flavours, how much to use and how long to let them steep. A cost calculator on the home page lets you price your own recipe from the prices you actually pay.
Safety first
DIY means handling nicotine, which is a highly addictive substance. Our guides keep coming back to the same basics: wear gloves, work on a clear surface, label every mix and store bottles out of the reach of children. Vaping products are for adults only, and nicotine vaping products must not be sold to anyone under 18 in the United Kingdom.
UK rules worth knowing
Under the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016, a refill container of nicotine-containing e-liquid sold in the UK holds no more than 10 ml, and nicotine strength is capped at 20 mg/ml. That is why UK mixers buy nicotine as separate shots rather than as one large bottle.
Who writes it
The guides are written by Quentin Morvan, who mixes his own e-liquid and records each recipe step by step. Every guide is checked before publication, and we correct any error that is pointed out to us.
